Beth Mooney is the world’s number one women’s T20I cricket batter once again. The official rankings of the International Cricket Council were updated on July 7, 2026. Mooney reclaimed the number one position after her brilliant performance at the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Consequently, she surpassed her teammate Georgia Voll to the number one spot. The success comes as Australia celebrates their record-breaking seventh world title.
Beth Mooney Leads Australia to World Cup Glory
Mooney played an important role in Australia’s success during the recent tournament. She ended the competition as a key match-winner for her team. Therefore, the ICC named her the Player of the Tournament.
She also won the Player of the Match award in the grand finale against England. During the title match at Lord’s in London, she scored 64 runs from only 49 balls. Australia chased down a target of 151 runs to win the trophy.

In the entire World Cup tournament, Mooney scored 238 runs in six innings. She scored at an average of 47.60, with a strike rate of 142.51. In the early games she scored 7 and 10, and struggled throughout the games. She also had back pain in the match against the Netherlands and had to leave the pitch. She also dislocated her finger while playing against Pakistan but continued playing. Eventually, she gained form when it mattered most in the knockout stages.
Changes at the Top of the ICC Rankings
Beth Mooney now has 785 rating points, which puts her in first place. Georgia Voll, who held the top spot since March 2026, has dropped to second place with 779 points. Meanwhile, other top players maintained their positions in the top five.

South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, stays in third place with 771 points. Hayley Matthews from the West Indies remains in fourth, and India’s Smriti Mandhana holds fifth place.

A Historic Milestone for Beth Mooney
This is not the first time Mooney has reached the top of world cricket. In fact, this marks her fifth time becoming the number one-ranked T20I batter. Moreover, she has now spent more than four years in total as the top-ranked player in this format.

In a post-match interview after winning the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, Mooney said that she hates losing. Mooney’s ability to return to the top shows her incredible consistency over many years.
Other Major Moves in the World Rankings
South Africa’s Tazmin Brits moved up three places to reach 11th in the world. England’s captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, made a big jump of five spots to reach 16th place. She scored two important half-centuries in the semi-final and the final.
Furthermore, the bowling and all-rounder rankings saw significant shifts. In the bowling charts, India’s Shree Charani kept her position as the world number one. She had an outstanding tournament where she took 14 wickets in just five matches. However, England’s Sophie Ecclestone moved up to second place, overtaking her teammate Charlie Dean. Australia’s Kim Garth also rose five places to 15th after a strong performance in the final.
In the all-rounder rankings, Freya Kemp from England soared 31 places to reach 27th position after playing well with both the bat and the ball. Australia’s Ash Gardner also moved up to sixth place in the all-rounder standings.
